EVs ditch the oil changes and the thousand moving parts of a combustion engine. But "low maintenance" isn't "no maintenance," and a few things actually matter more on an EV.
What you skip
- Oil and filter changes
- Spark plugs and timing belts
- Most exhaust and emissions work
What still matters — a lot
- Brakes: regen does most of the work, so pads can last longer but seize from underuse. They need inspection.
- Tires: instant torque and battery weight wear tires faster. Rotation is non-negotiable.
- Battery thermal system: coolant checks keep your range and battery life healthy.
- Cabin filter: Detroit road dust and salt clog it fast.
The catch: most shops aren't certified to touch a high-voltage system. Ours are. So you get real EV service without the dealer wait.
